Belly Dancing is a form of exercise with graceful dance moves and beautiful feminine creativity based on the folkloric and performance dance styles of the Middle East.

A great way to get fit, flexible, confident and work every muscle in your body while having fun! Learn the art of belly dancing from award-winning Phoenix Belly Dance.

Classes are focused on fitness and teach the technical movements, history and culture of the various modern and folkloric styles of the Middle East, choreographies for optional performances, as well as fusion elements to give students a holistic experience that is all together challenging, fun, and rewarding.

Wear yoga/gym type clothes, barefoot or socks, bring a water bottle. We have coin belts for sale if students would like one.

COVID UPDATE: Classes will be run online via Zoom during Level 4 lockdown. You canl book via the booking system if you want to attend casually :

Candice Frankland

Principal teacher, choreographer and founder of Phoenix Belly Dance

Candice Frankland is the Founder and Director of the multi-award-winning Phoenix Belly Dance Company. Candice has become one of NZ's most sought after teachers and regularly travels around New Zealand, Australia, and the world to teach workshops. She has led her bellydancing troupes to win prestigious titles such as the Jambalaya multi-discipline dance competition, the Viva Eclektika Asia Vision Cup, and the Corporate Event Guide’s Best Entertainment Company Award. Some of her high profile clients have been Coca-Cola, Sky City, Fairfax Media, Tamati Coffey, Atif Aslam, Phil Goff, and Julian Savea.
