Feel the rhythm, feel the passion and…dance Flamenco!  This 10-week course for beginners  is an introduction to the sensuous dance of flamenco. Students will learn basic techniques and choreography in a fun and friendly environment....

Staring from the beginning, students will learn basic techniques essential to flamenco dance.  You will also learn choreography, including the Tangos de Malaga, a slow and sensuous dance which ends in a faster gypsy Tango. Some classes will be accompanied by live guitar.

New beginners can wear flamenco shoes, character shoes, or shoes with a sturdy heel and a flexible sole. See for Flamenco dance skirts.

Maria Elena

Maria Elena, founder of Flamenco NZ, has dedicated her life to the Art of Flamenco from a young age. She came to New Zealand in the 1980s and has performed for decades in New Zealand, the  Netherlands, Germany and Spain. She was a special guest at the Pena Flamenca (Flamenco cultural centre) in Jaen, Andalusie, Spain in 1980. Maria Elena is also an accomplished Flamenco guitarist.
