SATURDAY 19 OCTOBER

Session 1 - 9:30am-10:15am Music and Friends. Inspiring international short films for the littlest children 3+. More info and register 

Session 2 – 10:30am-11:30am Beautiful Tails (Lights Up). International short films. Exciting tales with guinea pigs, robots and friendly monsters. A few gentle lessons about life and being good to others. For ages 5+. More info and register

Session 3 - 12:00pm-1:00pm Stars in the Light. Live action and incredible animations from some of the best short filmmakers in the world. PG Coarse language. Ages 7+.

Session 4 – 1:30pm-2:30pm Creatures with Problems. International short films. Surprising stories of strange creatures doing silly things. Some cartoon violence and deeper themes. Great for developing humans. Ages 7+. More info and register

Session 5 – 3:00pm-4:00pm Mukpuddy Live! Barefoot Bandits and Jandal Burn on the big screen - with a behind the scenes presentation from the animators. More info and register

Session 6 – 4:30pm-5:30pm  #strike4climate - Meet the Filmmakers. As the deadline looms for humanity to act on climate change, five teenagers put their education on the line to demand government take urgent action. The filmmakers will join us to discuss this work in progress and answer your questions. An exciting opportunity to go behind the scenes of making a documentary! More info and register 

Session 7 – 6:00pm-8:00pm Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind (1984). Warrior and pacifist Princess Nausicaä desperately struggles to prevent two warring nations from destroying themselves and their dying planet. Written and directed by Academy Award®-winner Hayao Miyazaki, is an epic masterpiece of sweeping scope and grandeur that remains one of the most breathtaking and exhilarating animated films of all time. SUNDAY 20 OCTOBER

Session 8 - 9:30am-10:15am Kiddets & Kiri and Lou. Featuring episodes from Kiddets and Kiri and Lou, NZ-made preschool programmes. Ages 3+ More info and register

Session 9 – 10:30am-11:20am The Magical World of Margaret Mahy. Five animated short films based on the best-selling children's books by internationally acclaimed NZ author, Margaret Mahy. Ages 3+ More info and register

Session 10 - 11:30am-1:00pm Thunderbirds are Go! Episodes from the new season in a special package on the big screen. More info and register 

Session 11 - 1:30pm-2:30pm Best of the Fest. An extra special collection of international short films as voted by kids and industry juries. Ages 5+ More info and register

Session 12 - 3:00pm-4:15pm Supa Modo (Feature) for ages 8+. Presented in Swahili, English & Kikuyu with English subtitles. Jo, a witty, 9-year-old terminally ill girl is taken back to her rural village to live out the rest of her short life. Her only comfort during these dull times are her dreams of being a Superhero. Session 13 - 4:30pm-5:00pm. Screenies NZ Shorts Showcase. Two NZ short films. The Dump
tells the tale of 11 year-old Utah who gets dumped for the day with his estranged dad who works at a Northland rubbish dump. Ahi Kā is about a young girl left alone with just her spiritual guides to uphold the prestige and sovereignty of the tribe in order to protect the land for generations to come.
