Learn how to write a catchy tune that will stick in people’s heads and record your new song for others to enjoy! This practical, engaging course will teach you everything you need to know to craft a memorable pop song…

The course will explore song structure and how harmony and melody coexist to support the idea behind a lyric. You’ll learn basic lyrical conventions: metaphor, rhyme, assonance, oxymoron etc and will write a song over a day to share at the end of the workshop.

Students will learn how to collaborate and write in a group and an analysis of popular songs will show you how to borrow ideas from popular songs we all like to craft something new.

You’ll have the opportunity to workshop songs that you may have already written and you’ll also have the opportunity to record your new song!
