2020 show TAPAC

So, how's your 2020 been? If you think it's about time to do a comedic dance around the dumpster fire of this year, then so do we.

See some of Auckland's finest improv performers create scenes and stories on the spot, based on your suggestions of what you remember of this year...

In a rare collaboration, for one night only, some of the most experienced performers from various established improv groups around the city are coming to TAPAC to take scenes of 2020 and transform them into a magical, delightful and fun alternatives.

Expect to see top quality improv and music, laugh-out-loud scenes, cathartically familiar references, and beautiful in-the-moment theatre.

Displaying their talents will be:

Donna Brookbanks – actor, writer, stand-up comedian and a regular performer in the incredibly successful “Snort” improv show at the basement theatre. Writer and performer in "Funny Girls" on TV3 and writer for "Jono and Ben"

Rebecca Stubbings – talented performer involved with multiple Auckland Improv troupes, tutor with the Theatresports Youth Program, director of improv troupe ‘Improverished’ and regular performer in improv group "Love Lamp"

Steven Lyons – experienced performer of comedy around the globe, alumini of ‘Second City Theatricals’, warm-up for TV3’s ‘The Project’, writer for ‘7 Days’ and a well known coach and performer of improv in Auckland.

Greg Ward – award winning singer, actor, entertainer and MC with many years of experience on the improv stage.

Gareth Blackler – comedian, designer and much-loved MC and performer with Auckland Improv troupes ‘Casual First Date' and 'Love Lamp'

Sam Smith – musical improviser with credits including ‘Wellington Paranormal’ and ‘7 Days’

The show is produced by high-school teacher, stand-up and improviser Keith Paterson who has produced the Waiheke Comedy show and coached improv for several years on Waiheke Island and is also a member of Auckland improv troupe "Casual First Date."
